The word for “cat” in both Cantonese and Mandarin is “mao” and the characters are very similar, too:
貓 = Cantonese
猫 = Mandarin
So here is a great knitting pattern for a very adorable cat from Petite Purls:
It calls for DPNs and an icord, but you can do my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE TECHNIQUE, which is the Magic Loop. So go on and make a Mao for someone special! :)
