Stuffing Your Knitted Projects: A Guide

Have you made a few knitted toys for friends, family, or even for yourself … and either over- or under-stuffed your creation? I’m guilty of that for sure. There’s nothing sadder than a deflated or limp stuffed animal.

Good news. KnitKnoodler over at Craft Stylish has written a great tip guide to ensure that you hard work doesn’t flatten out. Some highlights:

The first trick is to stuff it while you’re sewing it together.  Place the wrong sides of your finished knitted pieces together and use a mattress stitch to sew up…

Use your fingers to shape corners while sewing it together.  Your finished corners should be ever so slightly rounded, not squared-off with a point.  Stitch right up to a corner and pull your stitches tight.

And more!

Mochimochi Land has an adorable new pattern … teeny knitted pigeons! And aren’t these little guys adorable?

I’m so excited because I love amigurumi, and I just found out that an EIGHTH baby is on its way. Yes, it seems as if we’ve got an arrival of twin girls! One c-section is happening today, and more are coming next week. I feel like it’s Baby Hiroshima around here.

Anyway, I am glad to be able to take a break from the baby knitting. I love the little beaks on these guys! I’ll admit to not being the best color-worker when it comes to yarn, but this pattern seems to be easy enough for the likes of my knitting skills.

BTW, I’d love to see pics of any of the free patterns that I’ve listed on the site. My comments typically close at 14 days, but feel free to comment with a link to your completed project or shoot me an email. I’d like to make a post of visitor’s completed pattern projects.  :)

Weird, Wild, Wooly Knitted Things!

The other day, there was an article on the NHS (National Health Service) commissioning knitters to whip up (or out? heh!) knitted breasts for nursing instruction. I had no idea, but there’s even a group here in the U.S. called – wait for it – Knitting for Knockers which knits up prosthetic breasts for cancer survivors.

I’m dying. That name is just filled with win.

Anyway, as a follow-up article to the knitted breasts, The Metro gives us a story on weird knitted objects. Here are a few of my faves:

Knitted vacuum cleaner
Knitted Vacuum Cleaner … “doesn’t suck.” Ha.
Knitted digestive system
A knitted digestive system. Wow.
And, finally, they link to an older article with adorable pics of little fun knitted things. I need to make most of them, not gonna lie…
