Socks, socks, and more socks! Sarah E. White at about.com reviews “Folk Socks: The History & Techniques of Handknitted Footwear (Updated Edition)” by Nancy Bush. This interesting and historical book is published by Interweave Press.
I have to admit that I never gave much thought to how the sock knitting craze got started. It’s always been around as long as I’ve been paying attention (the 5.5 years I’ve been working on this site).
So when Interweave says that Nancy Bush’s Folk Socks started the trend to knit socks when it was first published in 1994, I don’t know if it’s true, but it’s certainly plausible. This detailed book was reissued lase year (it’s not a major update) and it’s easy to see how it could draw knitters to want to knit socks.
